Watch This

If you've ever been sucked into any reality show that is so ridiculously stupid and frustrating but for some reason you cannot tear yourself away from the tv, then this video is for you.

I watched The Bachelor this season and it reminded me why I never watch these kinds of shows (exception: Project Runway). However, Fred's parody made it all worth it. Click on the pic below or over on the right. Nice work, Fred!

Sophie

Fred has become a YouTube nerd. Last week he asked me to help with a video. It was so much fun. Who knew I'd enjoy making faces into a camera so much. And then having it posted on You Tube...Anyway, thought I'd blog it since I haven't done anything here in so long. Either click on the picture below or over there on the right (the pic below will take you to YouTube). Enjoy.

Photoshoot

Photoshoot with Raji Barbir, whom I met during Takito (see post below). He's an amazing photographer. See how good he made me look:

Takito of my life.

It's a Saturday night, at about midnight. I get out of a movie (I don't remember which at this point), check my phone and find a couple phone calls and a few texts all from Freddly telling me to call him ASAP no matter how late it is. Of course I call him and he proceeds to beg for my assistance in helping make the next blockbuster Takito. Apparently one of the actresses bailed on them that night at 10 pm and her shoot was the next day at 6 in the A.M. Sounded like fun and I couldn't say no to Fred, so I said the opposite of no. The following is the result of that answer.

TAKITO

Takito is the story of, you guessed it, Takito, whose wife Mildred and dog Sparky are murdered by the his archnemesis, Dreyfus. Takito sends Dreyfus to a prison above the lake, but he is released by his henchmen and vows to get revenge on Takito. There are lightsabers, stabbings, beheadings... Think Final Fantasy meets Star Wars meets any revenge movie ever made. (Trogdor was even one of the character's name. If you don't know the reference, let me know and I'll tell you. If you can't tell the reference of Dreyfus' character then you need to watch more movies)

To see a real live trailor of Takito, click here.

I was in two scenes total.
The dream scene:

And the death scene:
Wo is me

You'd be surprised how tired being tied to a tree will make you.

Mildred and Takito (aka me and Fred Lee)

The evil Dreyfus (Danny James), post prison above the lake.

The exciting final fight scene between Takito and Dreyfus.

So sad after losing Sparky. Seriously. He was more sad about losing Sparky than Mildred.

Camera man, Raji Barbir (behind the crane), and director, Andrew James (in the hat). I didn't expect us to have such fancy hardware. Actually, I think I was asleep while they shot this scene, so I didn't get to see them use it, but I still think it was pretty impressive. To see more of Raji's photography work, check out Tiny Comet over on the right.

So finally, I have something interesting to blog about! My first film experience! I must say it was one of the funnest things I've done in a long time. Regardless of the silliness of the story, I was very impressed with everyone's movie making skills. So even though I had to get up at 6 in the morning on a Sunday!!, thanks must be given to Fred and Danny for thinking of me for the part. I don't know if they thought I would look good tied to a tree or what, but it was worth it. Actually, my ankles starting burning after a while so maybe not THAT worth it...

I had some spare time.

I was getting ready to leave work 10 minutes early, but Justin said he needed 5 more minutes, so I took the opportunity and decided to update my blog with a proper post.

In all honesty (if it isn't obvious) blogging has not been a priority for me lately. I can barely keep my days straight let alone take time to write even a tid-bit of a post. There is just too much going on. Even now I'm not sure what else I'm going to say. Freddy posted his feeling about the current economic crisis (a good read if you feel so inclined) and of course Mike has his amazing photos and stories blogged (even if he hasn't updated in a while. Mike, what's the deal?). My girlfriends have their blogs and write about their kids and families. You'd think being a 25-year-old, single, student at a real, live Univeristy I'd have a lot to say about pretty much everything, but even if I do my mind tends to go completely blank when I have a moment to blog or write or whatever.

Anyway, I guess this is a little blogging-mental-block rant, vent or somesuch.

It Is.... Alive!!

That is to say, I'm alive. Still. That's a good thing.

It may be four months since my last post, but I don't really feel that badly. Who knows. Maybe the novelty has worn off and my blogging days are numbered...

Let Me Clarify

This used to bug me, but it's happened so often now that it's just making me laugh. Even fellow dancers of mine have made this mistake which is even funnier to me. I guess I haven't explained it very well, but people have thought that I auditioned for the UofU's "dance team." Please let me clarify: it's the U's modern dance DEPARTMENT. For students seeking a DEGREE in modern dance. I will be getting my BFA in Modern Dance.

There is a Performance Company (which is as close to a professional company as you can get without actually being professional) I could audition for, but it is not required in order to get your DEGREE. There are no "recitals" or "competitions" or "county fair shows." Just a ton of classes until I graduate and sign on with a professional company or continue teaching (and charge a lot more than I currently do).

Don't get me wrong. Everyone has been super supportive and excited for me and I am very very appreciative. Thanks everyone, for your support and excitement even if you're just humoring me. That's really all I ask for.

Hope that clears things up.

(no, that's not me. it's just a cool pic of some modern dancers)
